Unusual Symptoms | Tanz

Seit 2012 bilden Unusual Symptoms die Tanzkompanie des Theater Bremen. Ursprünglich gegründet von dem französisch-algerischen Choreograf Samir Akika, arbeitet das Ensemble seit 2018 unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Alexandra Morales und Gregor Runge. Die Arbeit mit renommierten und aufstrebenden Choreograf:innen der internationalen Tanzszene und in interdisziplinären Konstellationen prägen die von ihnen vorgenommene Neuausrichtung. Neben Produktionen von Hauschoreograf Samir Akika entstehen so Arbeiten von Choreograf:innen wie Claire Croizé, Faye Driscoll und Adrienn Hód, die in Bremen oft zum ersten Mal in Deutschland produzieren. 

Die Arbeiten der Kompanie werden nicht nur in Bremen präsentiert, sondern regelmäßig von internationalen Festivals und Tanzhäusern eingeladen. Neben den gemeinsam mit dem Ensemble entwickelten Uraufführungen realisieren Unusual Symptoms Projekte mit jugendlichen Performer:innen, Austauschformate und Festivals. 2020 und 2024 waren Unusual Symptoms und das Theater Bremen mit insgesamt drei Produktionen zur renommierten Tanzplattform Deutschland eingeladen.

Unusual Symptoms have been the dance company of Theater Bremen since 2012. Originally founded by the French-Algerian choreographer Samir Akika, the ensemble has been working under the artistic direction of Alexandra Morales and Gregor Runge since 2018. Work with renowned and up-and-coming international choreographers and in interdisciplinary constellations characterize their new orientation. Unusual Symptoms work with both house choreographer Samir Akika as well as with choreographers such as Claire Croizé, Faye Driscoll and Adrienn Hód, who more often than not, present their first new works in collaboration with a German-based ensemble here.
The company's works are not only presented in Bremen, but are also regularly invited by international festivals and dance houses. Next to the premieres developed in close collaboration with the dancers, Unusual Symptoms develop projects with young performers, exchange formats, and festivals. In 2020 and 2024, Unusual Symptoms and Theater Bremen were invited to the renowned Tanzplattform Deutschland with three productions.
