„Auf dem Altar der Kunst sind Dinge erlaubt, die im wahren Leben verboten sind. Das macht Kunst zu einem Spiel – einem Alibi, das uns auf freien Fuß setzt.“ (Adrienn Hód) – Adrienn Hód gilt als eine der wichtigsten Stimmen der zeitgenössischen Tanzszene Ungarns. In ihren Arbeiten widmet sie sich auf spielerische und oft provokante Weise der Suche nach immer wieder neuen tänzerischen Formen und dramaturgischen Prinzipien. In „Coexist“ entfalten zehn Tänzer:innen einen so hinterlistigen wie gnadenlosen Blick auf die Gesellschaft, von der sie und ihre Körper geformt und beeinflusst werden. Mit schwarzem Humor und einer ekstatischen Tanzsprache halten sie der Gegenwart kompromisslos den Spiegel vor. Zwischen persönlichen Geschichten und dem ambivalenten Spiel mit choreografischen Grenzüberschreitungen, konfrontieren sie das Publikum mit den eigenen Erwartungen und fordern es heraus, Klischees und Konventionen in Frage zu stellen.

Adrienn Hód is one of the preeminent voices in Hungary’s contemporary dance scene. In her works, she dedicates herself to the quest for new dance forms and dramaturgical principle, in a playful and often provocative manner. In “Coexist”, ten dancers deploy a disingenuous and merciless view on society that shapes and influences them as well as their bodies. Darkly humorous, utilising an ecstatic dance language, they uncompromisingly mirror the present age. Between personal stories and the ambivalent play with choreographic border crossings, they confront the audience with their own expectations and challenge them to question clichés and conventions.
